A Touch of Humanity

Edgar’s Mission Farm Sanctuary. These farm animals arrive at the sanctuary injured, battered and possibly near death. Many animals get abused and the fact that they are mostly vulnerable and on the receiving end, there is no way they can protect themselves. The animals survive under the tender care provided in this place filled with love. It is painful and heart wrenching to watch the videos of the animals in pain. But at the end of that same spectrum is a ray of hope that they will pull through, and many do.

Time is of Essence

What was planned as a Valentine’s Day launch, wasn’t to be. Sol’s World: Somebody to Love was launched in May instead. The wait is well worth it for me, because the book makes me smile when I look at it now. It was a huge learning experience for me, to know what went on behind crafting and creating a book. I created Sol’s World with the intention of a series of illustrated books. So in many ways, the project hasn’t ended, it is just a new beginning for me.

Sol’s World: Somebody to Love

Sol’s World: Somebody to Love is a book crafted for both children and adults. It makes for easy reading for the children and yet it carries a deeper message for the adults. I love a good picture book myself and I never had that idea in my head that a picture book wasn’t for me. Imagination is something that shouldn’t just stop when you leave childhood behind.

Collate The Label

I think that support for our local designers is lacking. This is in stark contrast to what I see overseas, when I travel. It seems like fashion is so much more vibrant when the young and aspiring designers are given free reign to express themselves. However, in Singapore, we tread ever so carefully because we don’t know how many seasons we can last. Starting a new fashion line isn’t easy, building it up is even harder.

The Tory Getaway Boutique

Personally, I love colours that pop. I think that when you have gear that looks so vibrant and happy, it makes whatever activity you engage in much more fun, be it swimming, a day at the beach, or going to the gym.

How Signature Looks Came to Be

What started off as a simple sketch turned into something more over the years. I think the best way to actually show the gradual process of her (the girl I always draw) growth is to show you what I have done year after year. These drawings were prepared for Jeanius’ membership cards. When I started drawing for my column in a magazine, Jeanius asked if I could also draw something for their membership card. So I did.

And So… We Celebrate

So, one week after the Star Awards is over, we celebrate. We celebrate the graduation. This time, it’s a little different as well, I was the host. I think it’s a different feeling for all my fans. For the first time, they didn’t have to wreck their brains on the venue, plan the games or activities, worry about the food and all the other nitty gritty details that go into planning a gathering. Actually I kept it really simple and personal, a very cosy sharing session that I have always liked to have. I definitely hope that all had fun!

Skin Story

I started off as most little girls with minimal fuss and care for my skin. I remember following my mother to her facials and quietly sitting at the corner waiting for her to be done. However, it was only when I entered the industry that it dawned on me that skincare was so important.

Sol – Once Upon a Time

“Sol’s World: Somebody to Love” is Sol’s journey of self discovery. It will hit the bookstores 9th May 2015.

Fashion Nerd

Fashion is subjective and what I learn over the years is that as long as you feel comfortable and confident in it, nothing’s going to stop you from looking good. Feel awkward and you will be awkward.

Beaches and Sunsets

If you told me about a wonderful destination where I could just chill by the sea, have a cocktail while the sun sets beyond the horizon, I would fly myself there if time allowed it. Life in showbiz is fast paced enough and I would love to just unwind and slow down if I get the opportunity to do so.

A Marathon, Not a Sprint

15 years. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Thank you for allowing me time to grow. Thank you for illuminating my life as an actress.
