Of Keyyes and Kisses

As with anything that I do or learn, it will come to a point in time that I attempt to create. I didn’t expect this process of creation to come so soon though. It was a fun, albeit challenging journey.

This collaboration with Keyyes required me to create a recipe using their list of fantastic curated products from the app. I’ve never created anything from scratch before so this took longer than expected. It didn’t help that I didn’t have a properly equipped kitchen, but I’m ever so grateful for all the help that poured in from school (Le Cordon Bleu) and my classmate who literally transported her kitchen to my little apartment. I would also have to travel either to school or to my friend’s place just so I could use an oven.

Picking out the ingredients was the easy part. Settling on something to create was another. I loved the smell of the Lavender flowers and I really wanted that to be part of my recipe. What I realized in class was that as much as we all used the same recipe, our baked meringues can end up looking so different. It really isn’t as simple as it looks and so that’s how Meringues worked their way into my mind.

Truth be told, I thought that I would be able to get this done real quickly. Fact, it took a lot longer. It’s great to have this experience of starting something from the beginning and I’ve learnt so much from just this little project alone. It’s exciting and daunting all at once. You feel like this is something you want to share and yet you’re not so sure if it’s “wow” enough to share. Confusing, I know.

I’m still happy to be able to work on this and share this with you. This recipe probably weighs a lot more in my heart since it’s my very first attempt at a new sweet recipe. I hope you like it.
