Truth be told, I have never felt so excited over any cover before. Perhaps it was the whole new image that the team had planned for me. Or was it the double cover that was to be published? Then again, it could be the 3-page fold out that you find in the magazine when you flip open the cover.
I remember arriving at the studio at around 7.30pm after I was done with filming that day. I was shown images of what they wanted to achieve and how we all wanted to try something new and bold. That said, I was seated in my chair for another 4 hours, making sure my hair was tied really tight and flat, putting on the wig and getting it cut into shape slowly, thereafter the makeup.
The team was amazing, spirits were high and everyone just patiently waited till we achieved the look we wanted for the shoot. By the time I was changed and ready for the first shot, it was already midnight. But once we started, it was smooth going all the way! We ended the shoot at 2am with an amazing selection of photos.
I love being able to try out new looks for photoshoots, because I believe that the time to try and experiment is then! I think this short crop was extremely successful because everyone who saw the cover thought I cut my hair for real. Honestly, I love it! With my own hair texture and thickness, I would never have looked this way had it been my real hair.
This is a team that I really love working with. There’s so much trust and confidence in each other, and they were willing to forge ahead and explore something new with me. For this, I’m grateful.

Happy 40th Nuyou! I hope you continue to break new grounds constantly. With all my love, Jeanette XOXO
